#inktober

A Candela le encanta dibujar, eso no es ningún secreto. Lo que quizás no sabéis es que no le gusta participar en concursos de ningún tipo, ¡ni siquiera de dibujo! A veces le enseño información sobre concursos de dibujo que pienso que le pueden interesar, pero nunca muestra interés. 

Candela loves to draw, that's not a secret. What you may not know is that she does not like to participate in competitions of any kind, not even drawing competitions! Sometimes I show her information about drawing contests that I think it may interest her, but she never shows any interest.

Tan sólo una vez participó en un concurso de dibujo de un club de cine infantil. Ganó el primer premio, pero hay que tener en cuenta que la temática era muy especial para ella: dragones. Desde entonces he intentado convencerla varias veces, pero no hay manera.

Only once she participated in a drawing contest for a children's film club. She won the first prize, but you have to keep in mind that the theme was very special for her: dragons. Since then I have tried to convince her several times, with no luck. 

Por esta razón, cuando a finales de septiembre me dijo que quería participar en “Inktober” me hizo mucha ilusión. Es cierto que esta iniciativa no es un concurso, pero me parece fantástico que quiera ser partícipe de este reto tan original.

For this reason, when she told me, at the end of September, that she wanted to participate in "Inktober" I was very excited. It is true that this initiative is not a contest, but I think it is fantastic that she wants to be a participant in this original challenge.

Pero, ¿sabéis cómo nace “inktober”? Pues lo inventó un artista americano llamado Jake Parker en 2009. Él quería mejorar sus habilidades como ilustrador, y se le ocurrió un desafío: cada día del mes de octubre tenía que hacer una ilustración tradicional a tinta usando como referencia una palabra diferente cada día. ¡Y así nació Inktober!

But do you know how “inktober” was born? Well, an American artist named Jake Parker invented it in 2009. He wanted to improve his skills as an illustrator, and he came up with a challenge: every day of October he had to do a traditional ink illustration using a different word as a reference every day. And that's how Inktober was born!

Todos los que quieran participar tiene que hacer un dibujo con el tema de cada día y etiquetarlo en las redes sociales con el hashtag #inktober (El nombre de inktober viene de la palabra inglesa Ink, que significa tinta y de October, que es Octubre).

Everyone who wants to participate has to draw a picture with the theme of each day and label it on social networks with the hashtag #inktober (The name of inktober comes from the words Ink + October).

Y ahora, con toda esta información que tenéis, os dejo disfrutar de la obra de nuestra pequeña artista. Es cierto que yo no puedo ser muy objetiva pero pienso que, para ser una niña de 10 años, dibuja bastante bien, ¿no te parece?

Que a mi hija Candela le encantan los animales no es ninguna novedad. Desde que comenzó a hablar todos los años nos pide por Navidad lo mismo: ¡un perro! A veces escribe su carta a los Reyes Magos pidiendo cosas que le hacen especial ilusión pero siempre, siempre, al final de su carta dice que lo cambiaría todo por tener un perro… Lamentablemente, en nuestra casa actual es imposible tener mascota pero, ¿quién sabe? A lo mejor algún día su sueño se hace realidad, ¡la esperanza es lo último que se pierde!

My daughter Candela loves animals, this is not something new. Since she started talking, every year she asks us for Christmas the same thing: a dog! Sometimes she writes her letter to the Wise Men asking for things that make her special illusion but always, always, at the end of her letter says she would change everything to have a dog ... Unfortunately, in our current home it is impossible to have a pet but, who knows? Maybe one day her dream will come true, hope is the last thing that is lost!

Mientras tanto, ella sigue a lo suyo: haciendo casas para los erizos y los pájaros, salvando a los caracoles de ser pisados en medio de la calle, y tratando de hacerse amiga de las ardillas. En Sudáfrica siempre quería acercarse a los monos, pero le dijimos que no era una buena idea, ya que pueden ser peligrosos.

Meanwhile, she continues to do her own thing: making houses for the hedgehogs and birds, saving the snails from being stepped on in the middle of the street, and trying to make friends with the squirrels. In South Africa she always wanted to get close to the monkeys, but we told her that it was not a good idea, as they can be dangerous.

Al llegar a Londres se empeñó en hacerse amiga de un zorro y, aunque no nos hemos podido acercar demasiado, hemos conseguido “adoptar” a un zorrito que viene a menudo bajo la ventana de nuestra casa. Ya lo hemos bautizado con el nombre de Rocko.

Arriving to London, she insisted on making friends with a fox and, although we have not been able to get close enough, we have managed to "adopt" a fox that often comes under the window of our house. We have already baptized it with the name of Rocko.

En varias ocasiones ha conseguido acercarse a las ardillas, darles unas nueces para comer, ¡e incluso tocarlas! Puede que sea una tontería, pero a veces tengo la sensación de que se comunica con los animales. Sea cierto o no, la verdad es que es una niña especial, que consigue sacar una sonrisa a todo el que se cruza en su camino.

On several occasions she has managed to get close to the squirrels, give them some nuts to eat, and even touch them! It may be silly, but sometimes I have the feeling that she communicates with animals. Be it true or not, the truth is that she's a special girl, who manages to get a smile from everyone who crosses her path.

Según el calendario lunar, el pasado 16 de febrero comenzó el Año Nuevo chino, también conocido como Fiesta de la Primavera. El horóscopo chino se compone de 12 animales: rata, buey, tigre, conejo, dragón, serpiente, caballos, cabra, mono, gallo, perro y cerdo, y a cada año se le asigna un animal.
